    Hey guys,

A mate of mine and his girlfriend are looking to take up Martial Arts, as a bit of a hobby. More for fun, fitness with a bit of self-defense thrown in. So could anyone recommend a few decent clubs in the Templeogue/Terenure/Rathfarnham area, or even in Wexford?

His girlfriend did a bit Shotkan before, and really liked it - so I guess some form of Karate (Kenpo, Kung Fu) would be cool.

    Thanks for your help,:)

    Rob.

Best Shotokan Club in the country (IMO) is run by the WSKF director Brendan Perry in Ballyroan Community Centre in Templogue. Highly recomend it.

    Hi Baggio

I teach Adult Silat classes in Firhouse Sports Center Mondays and Wednesday 7.30pm and also in Walkinstown Sheldon Park Leisure Club. If they like to give it a go, they be more that welcome. The classes are fun to do and no egos in the class as every one trains with everyone else.Hope this helps.

    Hi Liam,

Thanks for the info - that sounds perfect for what they want. I'll pass on your details and website. And then they can choose between Shotokan ans Silat :)

    Thanks again,

Thanks man... But my mates girlfriend wants who whole "art" side of it too. So I'm not sure if MMA is what she'd really be after.

    Cheers for the suggestion though,

    Tim,

Errr.... As Sorgan said - something more on the traditional side of things - they want the whole Martial Arts experience - not just the fighting side of things (forms, Kata, etc).

I used the word "Art" to try and explain this (not offend anyone :)).

    Cheers,

    Rob.

If you meant forms or Kata why not just say that instead of Art. Can't see how it would offend anyone.
