    From AintItCoolNews:

** Contains some minor plotlines for the final episodes of Season 3 **
A highly-placed insider has just set my hinder straight on the batting order for the final episodes of “Lost” this season.

    The bad news?
As reported by TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello, the season will indeed not end with a Benjamin Linus flashback two-parter.

The good news? We’ll be getting Ben’s flashbacks even sooner! He’ll be the focus of 3.20, the episode previously believed to be DeGroot-centric. (If you’re thinking Dharma masterminds Karen and Gerald DeGroot will still turn up in that episode, I’d guess you’re thinking right.)

The shocking news? After years of privately and publicly nagging the producers of “Lost” to cut back on the flashbacks, I can report that 3.19 is slated to be the first-ever flashback-free episode in the series’ history.

The absent flashbacks for that episode, says my source, “won't even be missed.”

“The episode,” he or she adds, “focuses on one of season one's ‘mysteries’ - if that's the right word.”

What I am assured is the true flashback order:
    3.17 Desmond Hume
    3.18 Jin & Sun Kwon
    3.19 no flashbacks!
    3.20 Benjamin Linus
    3.21 Charlie Pace
    3.22-23 Jack Shephard
I, for one, cannot wait for
    Ben's flashback

3x20 is definitely Ben alright, this was confirmed by Jorge Garcia. They're shooting this episode now. Although it's probably Ben as a child as it takes place in the 70's. Expect to learn loads about Dharma. I think it's still too soon for anyone to know for certain about the finale. Jack will get another flashback in it but that doesn't mean the whole thing is Jack centric.

3x19 is when Locke returns so it's a great time for a flashback-free episode. Great idea imo.

Yeah, the final two were supposed to be Ben's.

But i reckon there's a good reason they've changed it to Jack.

Bastards. I'd heard that Ben was getting the last two eppys too. Last thing I wanna watch is another heap of ****e from that pathetic excuse of a man.

Ah I can't wait, the momentum the show is gathering at the minute is overwhelming, a far cry from the tripe we had to put up with midway through S2, I'm really looking forward to the finale now...

At least that, the previous two season finales were somewhere between 1:20 and 1:30 in length!

Very true mate, yeah actually 1.30 sounds better. Leaving us with a cliff hanger :)

How old is ben? michael emerson is 52
so if he's the same age in Lost, then in the 70s he'd be 16-26

Emerson would easily pass for 40's however. When Jack saw Ben's x-rays he said they belonged to a man in his 40's and guessed Ben.

    Isn't there going to be a S03E24?

    Nope!

No, the two-hour finale is 22 and 23 and that's it. Season 1 had 25 episodes and Season 2 had 24. I think they may even be knocking another episode off next year.

Also I'm starting to doubt the accuracy of this "flashback-free" rumour. I think 3x19 will be an
on island Locke flashback filling in what happened to him in the week he was gone.
AICN's source may have just gotten confused.

The Jack flashback finale is going to have to lead to big revelations regarding his past and I'm quite looking forward to it. Initially I thought it was going to be concerning his father and his role in the series but looking at Jacks last flashback episode got me thinking. Jack's tattoo "He walks among us, but he is not one of us" seemed to be quite relevant during that episode as it looked like he was going to be incorporated into the others camp for quite some time. This didn't really happen so what if the relevance of this phrase, which essentially is what Bai Ling see's his future as being, is flipped around. What if Jack walks among the losties but he is not one of them?

NO! That'd give me a reason to like him! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

It seems I was right. AICN have revised their original story. There WILL be flashbacks:

    http://www.aintitcool.com/node/32258
UPDATE!! Another reputable source told us late last night that 3.19 WILL contain flashbacks, and they'll be Locke flashbacks. So I called my original source (the one who said no flashbacks for 3.19), and that source said my latter source was right. The original source got confused because all of Locke's flashbacks are very RECENT flashbacks. All apparently take place on Dharma Island (or thereabouts) subsequent to Ben reintroducing Locke to his daddy (the last time we all saw Locke). So the real, true and now double-confirmed flashback order is:

    3.17 Desmond Hume
    3.18 Jin & Sun Kwon
    3.19 John Locke
    3.20 Benjamin Linus
    3.21 Charlie Pace
    3.22-23 Jack Shephard

    Apologies for the mix-up!!

    END OF UPDATE!!

And I still think they're wrong about the finale. It hasn't started shooting yet so unless their source is one of the writers there's no way they can know for certain yet. All the finale-centric rumours are based on the same source.

I wonder what the Jin and Sun ep is about.

I'll take a wild guess that it's about the conception of her baby! I'm more intrigued in what the Desmond centric episode is about!

Yeah really want to know more about Des also. I think he has alot more to add to the history of the island and his experience.

So there will be flashbacks after all, just recent ones from the time on the island. This ep will be like 2X15 "Maternity Leave" and 2X20 "Three Minutes" so, both featuring island flashbacks from Claire and Michael respectively. 2X07 "The Other 48 Days" was like that as well.

Something tells me Jack's moreso in no-man's land than Juliet... Just a feeling I've got.

I saw on an upcoming ep synopsis that someone new arrives on the island in the Desmond ep.
My guess Penny. She had a homing device on the boat he was racing in, thus explaining the icey goings on in the season 2 closer.
Now she's staged a rescue mission to get to the island
but it's bumpy ride (as mentioned in last week ep) and her transport gets destroyed.
ALso what happened to Rose and Bernard????

Not Penny but she may show up later in the season I reckon. The character who shows up in Desmond's episode is
a new character, Naomi, she isn't an 815 survivor, she isn't an Other and she doesn't appear in a flashback. The press release called her a "parachutist".

    :D

Anyone ever get the feeling that in about two series Lost could degenerate into Gilligan's Island? ;)

5x02 - There's trouble for Jack and Sawyer when a sexy surfer rides a wave onto the island and catches Kate's eye!

No, they spotted the electromagnetic anomoly.

My guess on this is that Penny isn't looking for Desmond, she's looking for the island...

Agreed. Her evil father is obviously connected with Dharma/the island in some substantial way. In fact Widmore is looking like the big villain imo so I wonder where Penny stands in all this? She's probably working for him now. Can't wait to see how this all plays out.

I am not so sure that Penny is evil now. She striked me as the type of woman, that if she found out what her father had said to Desmond then she would never speak to him again. She was very much in love with Desmond and i still think she is. She has somehow found out what her father has done and has come to find Desmond.
