Boston Marathon to Be Run Though Forecast Rain, Wind, Cold
    By Dan Bollerman
April 12 (Bloomberg) -- The Boston Marathon, which has never been postponed in its 110-year history, probably will be run as scheduled on April 16 even if current weather forecasts for heavy rain, cold temperatures and high winds prove accurate.
A decision on canceling the 26-mile, 285-yard race would be made by public-safety officials and its organizer, the Boston Athletic Association, said spokesman Peter Judge of the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency.
Current forecasts call for temperatures in the low 30s Fahrenheit (around zero degrees Celsius) with heavy rain and steady winds of 25-30 miles per hour (40-48 kilometers per hour), gusting to 50 mph.

Meanwhile it could hit 20c in a few suntraps here on the same day.

Over the past 10 years, temperatures at the start in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, have ranged from 47 degrees in 1997 and 1998 to 83 degrees in 2004.

brrrr , even the Dublin marathon ain't as cold as 0c

I always keep track of north america's weather and so far their April has been awful with some record breaking cold. They are calling monday's storm a potentially "1 in 100 year storm" with flooding a real threat.

Just an update on what's happening with that storm system so far. Last night a massive squall line developed over texas and hit the dallas area with tornadoes and baseball sized hail. I was watching it on fox and then they lost all communication with dallas as the electricity and phones went down:

More severe storms (with tornadoes) today and tonight for the south and then it will move into the northeast bringing flooding rain and high winds.

Good job the marathon is on Monday, eh? :p

Looks like there could be seriously bad conditions:
An offshore storm of the type which bring significant snow to this area in the winter will be passing by, and unless it turns out to sea, on race day it may bring driving rain, temperatures below 5 degrees Celsius, and a headwind on the point-to-point course. Race organizers have assured runners that the race will not be cancelled--but that they should be prepared for challenging conditions.
