What a f**king joke! A 4 month delay because of a stupid phone! But then I guess this is to be expected since the company changed it's name from "Apple Computer, inc" to just "Apple, inc". Apple now make ipods and phones, both of which take precedent over the mac and it's operating system. Apple have made they're priorities clear, give it a few years and they'll probably abandon the mac altogether. Very disappointing :(

I'm really pissed about this

Why is this very disappointing? Are you not happy with Tiger then? A new OS to 'replace' a fantastic OS is hardly really disappointing news. I do no think Apple will abandon the mac at all although models of computing are changing all the time. I don't care about the US launch og the iPhone but this is clearly a business resource allocation issue. Not a reflection on their longeer term priorities.

Give it a few years and you'll be using an online OS anyway. :o

it is true what eoineen says, that tiger is a fantastis OS and we all know this.

I am gld now ( thanks to the professor) that i bought my imac in december because i was going to wait for the new OS, and it looks like i would have had a long long wait.

I saw a program on tv ( discovery) and it reckons that by the year 2020 ( japan / america, it will most likely be 2025 for us in europe, i reckon) we will all be living in computer operated houses. The computer will be built into our houses from day one and there will be no desktop computer. it will be like your man's house, the cop, in 'a town called eureka' ( i tried watching that show, its silly, good ideas, but silly acting)

Windows are going nowhere. apple dont need to push, but they are most likely thinking about the future house in the year 2020. I guess in the next few years apple will bring out an ikitchen, an ibedroom, an icar, an iwife, an imaid and many more i things, but all the time keeping their eye on the mac computer. apple will never give up on the computer.
I reckon steve jobs will always have the mac, he will never want to see bill win and he can see the day when bill will fall to his knees and ask to be forgiven.

Apple can afford to wait, Vista has not tasken off no where near as much as Microsoft hoped, at the end of the day they know people want iPhone more then the next version of OSX so I think their right to do what their doing :)
