For the first time Blade Runner is available with a digitally remastered and restored picture, it's never looked this good on DVD before.

Los Angeles 2019. Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) is a retired Blade Runner; his job was to track down rogue Replicants, man made machines identical to humans but banned from Earth. Persuaded to come back to work by his ex-boss, Deckard finds himself on the trail of 4 escaped Replicants who have made it back to Earth from a distant planet, his job is to retire them, by any means. Director Ridley Scott's seminal sci-fi classic paints a very dark and grim vision of the future, a world filled with mile high skyscrapers, pollution and overcrowding. With it's stylish design and dreamlike score by composer Vangelis, Blade Runner has attained well deserved cult status since it's release in 1982 and seems to get more popular each year. This version is the 1992 Director's Cut, which found director Scott revisiting the film and tweaking certain elements. Included in these changes are: the removal of Harrison Ford's voice over, the addition of a brief but very important dream sequence and quite a radical change to the ending.

Thanks for the headsup but just be careful. They're flogging off these all over the place cheap 'cos there's a 3 disk "difinitive-cut-for-this-week-or-something" version coming out sometime this year. Has been rumoured for ages: 3 different cuts, Ridley Scott interview, that brilliant C4 doc that was out a couple of years ago etc.

If your going to buy this you are probably better off buying it from play.com as they have it for €7.99 delivered as hmv charge £1.75:mad: for each dvd or cd you buy.

I got the R1 of this last year. Any news on when we can expect the "Final Cut"? Last rumour I heard said it might be Christmas '07. Anyway I'm looking forward to it, I just hope Scott doesn't f**k it up. I know his track record for these recuts are good but, well, there's a first time for everything :o Perfectly happy with the Director's cut though.
