    I was asked by some one through a Pm to explain the field positions to them

    I thought I mgiht aswell make it a post

    I've been a fan all my life and that "advanced" diagram gives me a headache :D

    It's accurate, but God it's messy, and would probably scare the sh*t out of someone trying to learn.

    I usually take people through the most likely positions for a fast bowler to a right-handed batsman, and that usually prompts enough questions to cover the other possibilities.
