ATI Omega Drivers question

Anybody used these on a laptop?
I've an Inspiron 6400 with the ATI x1400 graphics card. Would the Omega
drivers affect battery life at all? And has anybody had a noticable increase
in performance with them? I've just installed it but I haven't been able to
test them out yet, all my games are at home.

The Omega drivers are nothing more than slightly tweaked drivers for marginally better image quality and supports mobile GPU's.

There isn't much point in using them for a Mobile X1400 vs the regular drivers.

The modtool will add support for mobility cards to the regular ATI drivers.

If you are not a fan of the CCC I would recommend ATI Tray Tools as a control panel instead just download the display driver only on ATI's site run the modtool on it and install the driver. The install Tray Tools which will act as the control panel.

Ah its just that Dell are extremely slow at releasing new drivers for their
graphics cards, I figured I might get better performance outta the
omega drivers. But if it didn't have as good battery saving features,
    I was gonna leave it.

I've tried the modtool before, and it worked but I didn't get any noticable
    difference.

All modtool does is add unsupported GPU's into the normal ATI drivers nothing more nothing less.

ATI do offer mobile drivers on their site but they limit the driver support to select vendors & Dell is usually not supported.
