looks fine, raise seems grand with position.

wouldnt slowplay anything less than trips.

    I'm way oop!

I'm not slow playing by checking, it's more for pot control/not to turn my hand into a bluff/ and the worse fold/better call scenario.

Its a tricky one. If you check you may be giving a flush draw a free card. He surely isn't calling your flop bet with QJ. Unless he has QJ hearts. He'd probably re-raise AK preflop rather than go to the flop 4 handed. If he's hit a set of 4s well that sucks. Think I'd usually bet about 1200 on the turn and give him 3/1 if he's drawing to the flush. Would be easier to get away from too if it gets hairy. Usually a hand that has you beat on that board will raise on the turn as the pot is big enough and they know you probably have outs - like the straight won't like the board pairing or the set of fours wont like another heart. I don't know that I could lay it down to a raise though with a third of my stack in there. Maybe a check is best on the turn lol

    n

Look at how many people called preflop before villain and also look at his position. He raises AK preflop 90% of the time here. You have to assume AT is good on the turn and you have to bet it.

Definitely bet, although not quite so much.
You're giving somebody with a big A an excuse to fold. Even somebody chasing a weak flush might fold.

If he has AK there I'll eat my new LOL Donkaments T-shirt.

that's partly the reason why i think a check might be better, not so much worried about ak.

then turn's an ez fold for aj/aq.

You've a strong hand, but it is by no means a lock. A smallish bet would probably indicate to him that you had a lone A and if he has AQ or AJ he is likely to call.
You're also more likely to get called if you do a similiar bet on the river.
Giving him a free card here is bad. If he is flush drawing you want to make him pay for it. If you check not only do you give him a free card , but you're also not going to get paid on the river if he doesnt hit his flush.
Personally I dont think it is a good idea to get too clever with this type of hand.

    , CO calls t1700.

    River: (t5725) Kspade.gif(2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets t2400, Hero folds.

    Final Pot: t8125

    pretty awful river anyway.

to be fair Lloyd, when I bet on the turn I was pondering the merits of it. well before I c/f the river!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,894 ✭✭✭✭phantom_lord

why are you folding? Do you think AQ Aj bets that river?

I was wondering about that fold too.

I think a missed draw might bet here, and I don't think a better ace does, he was the type of player to turn up with k10, quite possible ak here too, and then a flopped set obviously. we are getting 3/1ish.

I dunno, I take it you think it's a call.

if you called the bet the pot would be over 10k, do you think you dont win the hand/split it more than 1/4 of the time? I think its quite a bad fold unless you know something about the guy.

as a general rule of thumb posters in the mtt forum on 2+2 are borderline retards. the good posters from there are well gone. though sometimes post if an intereting thread comes up

you will be able to tell the decent ones, cos usually they make sense and have a high post count. its the ones with a low post count that generally hang around for a month or two, go broke then piss off to play solitaire.

If you go to the MTTc forums, the regulars there used to post on the forum, they dont anymore, dont post any hands there tho obv.
