    Non tech person here who loves tech products!
    Just purchased a new high speed computer with vista premium .Noticed windows media centre and wonder as to possibilities?
    I have a flatscreen operating in another room of the house with a sky hd box and xbox 360 linked to it .

    I also have a belkin linked to broadband modem beside the main computer which i use to send a broadband signal to my sons laptop.

    Now the question is -
    What could one do by linking these together ?Would it be difficult and what would be the benefits of doing so .
    Finally having rewired the house recently as part of a renovation we installed cat 7? wiring on a friends recommendation .Not sure if that makes any difference but it may to someone who knows .

    Many thanks in advance

    Linking the Xbox 360 and the Vista PC over a network wired or wireless will allow you to;

    * Use the Media Centre extender feature on the Xbox 360 a remote view of the Media Centre UI on the PC essentially. You can watch videos, music, pictures, radio, TV, record TV etc from the extender UI of the console.

    Of courses given that your TV signal is not in the same room as the PC that is really a bit of a challenge so it's not worth pursing.

    * You can also skip the Media Centre UI and play music, video, pictures from the consoles own user interface.

    CAT7 is a type of high speed network cable it is more than sufficient if not total overkill for a home network. Given the wired network in place and built in ethernet port on the console I would recommend using the wired option to link the Xbox 360 & PC as it is more reliable than wireless connections.
