On the saturday night I got bored waiting for a 2/5 game to start so in a spur of the moment madness I sat down at a 10/25 game for 2k. I have a solid image but not a total rock. The game has been quite loose and not a major step up from a standard 2/5 game.

I raise to 100 from the cutoff -1 with kq, 3 callers inculding the button. The button is a very good, very aggressive english player. We have been in two pots together, he won both when in one he reraised me on the flop and one where he pushed the turn after i flat called his flop bet.

Anyway the flop comes 9 10 j and its checked to me. I taught for a while and when i went to bet so did the button, at the same time we both realised what was going on. I cheacked, so did he and everyone folded my bet on a blank turn.

What should have my been my action? I taught my check on the turn might look like a continuation bet but i decided to check fold when i seen him betting. Obv it looked like strenth to him. Later he said he was not angle shooting and was really going to bet.

You should bet flop. He'll shut down if you check call/raise his flop bet, considering what happened on the flop. You're hand looks really strong now that you're happy to bet the turn.

What I meant was to him it might look like i was going take a stab at it but then decided to give up.

A flush draw came on the turn so had to bet.
