Y'know its a bit mad, but four years now I've spent in DCU and at times it seems like I did nothing but complain about the place. Now I've at most six weeks left here before I'm off out to the real world and I find myself really not wanting to leave! I've done Intra, I know whats out there, and income or no it doesn't really compare to the college life!

Anyone else of the same opinion?

The idea of going into the real world scares me and I really don't want to face it but on other hand I am sick of this course and assignments etc so I have rather mixed feelings on it.

im on erasmus and really miss DCU, we dont know how good we have it in the college, the campus, the facilities, the people.
The campus where I am looks like the set of an old 70's zombie movie, the labs are tiny little rooms with no air conditioning and real old computers, people are nice enough to be fair.
Compare that to DCU where the campus is probably one of the nicest in ireland, labs are also top notch (with air conditioning) and people are sound enough in the main.
I cant wait to get back for final year :D

I couldn't wait to go back after intra, I imagine a lot of my current feelings are based on the fact I am going through a particularly stressful time collegewise so I am particulary hating it. I'd imagine come October I will be wishing to return as there will be certain things I miss and by then I would have fotgotten all the crap but I can safely say now, I can't wait to be done.

I can't wait for college to be finished so I can study and play more poker.

I've been in college now for nearly 4 years. 2 in dit and 2 in DCU, im probably going to end up repeating this one :(

so that'll be 7 years before i end up with even a degree (not that ive any intention of stopping there :) )

At the moment im loving college but i do see a time in the not too distant future where im going to just want to pack it in :/

We have a nice campus, its not anywhere near the best, we certainly dont have thre best facilities inherent to a good campus in anyway.

    UL tbh.

This is the end of my third year here. DCU, altough convienient for me, is quite **** tbh. Got involved in clubs, went to the DCU orchestrated nights... Made literally loads of new friends - but still... ****.

As today was my last day ( I dropped out.. bah! ), I wish to do the following

    * Bid you all good luck in your respective courses, and for the impending exams.
    * Hope you get a better few years than I did
    * Eh, I dunno what to put here, 2 lines was too short.

    Later looosers!

The rest of this week, then a few more of furious typing. Then it's all done. It worries me how fast it all went.

Yeah, I am on Intra, and while its great not having exams/assingments LOOMING over me NAGGING at me all the frackin time, its also nice to sleep in and not have to wear suit type clothes.

College life ftw. 4 years is too short.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 593 ✭✭✭Scráib

Four years is way too short alright! A five year degree sounds good right about now :)

Intra really is a wake-up call though, it really puts things in perspective in terms of the college and working life and the comparison between the two. You suddenly realise 'Holy crap! Is this what's after college!?' so when you get back to DCU its all about makin the most of the final year. Also postgrad courses begin to sound quite nice. :)

Here's another question: Are there many heading straight into a job or like me are you taking the Summer free?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,335 ✭✭✭rugbug86

Jes i'm hearing you on the office wear!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,646 ✭✭✭cooker3

College was far harder then intra ever was, Intra was a 5 month rest for me bar getting up early in the morning.

Dealing ftw, never have to wake up early

its all down hill after DCU. im almost a year in the work force earning nearly twice what i was on on INTRA and I have less money....whats up with that.

I'd love to go back, but at the same time could never face another lecture or exam

Heh, Intra was a rest alright cooker3. I hated getting up early every morning though! Its not like I had a hard time in Intra; I went in, checked my emails, logged into Redbrick, turned on TodayFm and logged onto boards and between all that procrastination I even got some work done until 5.30!

I only hope that I can get away with all that when I start real work :D
