My worst nightmare....

    Hey guys,

Just a quick word from me here in Brazil... as some of you may know I´m getting married this saturday and all is wonderful and great so far. But the day I left Ireland (last saturday) my worst nightmare became a reality... I was in the Dart from Seapoint to Tara Street and when I got out of the dart I took my suitcase and went to buy a drink as I was thirsty... when I was about to pay for my drink I realised I was missing something... I left my backpack in the Dart!! With in it my camera bag and lenses...and some jewelry that I had bought for my fiancee

You can image how I felt... mad, stupid, but most of all angry with myself... I reported the lost bag and the guy from the Dart station called me back when I was checking in at the airport that they hadnt found my bag yet, but that I should check with them when I get back in ireland; There was about 2000 euro worth of kit and jewelry in that back...so my hopes arent very high... but lets hope there are some honest people that found my bag and gave it to the lost&found.

Im really devastated that I lost my camera... I borrowed the old film SLR camera from my dad so will hopefully still come back with some pictures, but its my first time with film, so unsure about the results.

Anyway...the most important thing was that my passport wasnt in the back and that my wedding is still going on! :D

    See you guys soon

    Take care,
    Dimy

Best not to dwell on the camera and concentrate on having fun in Brazil!

    Hey Dimmy,

As least life-and-limb are safe and it will probably be a funny story to tell the grandkids circa 2040.

Best of luck with the nuptuals,

    DW.

look on the brightside - you now get to go out and pick up a new camera and lenses*, unencumbered by owning previous lenses or bodies, so you have a huge choice

    * provided you had insurance cover...

All you have to do is keep searching google and flickr
for the serial number of your camera.

it is recorded in the exif data of all your photos and all
photos that your camera will take in the future.

I think that would be one way of tracing it back.

Ok, really bad luck, but you have a camera and probably one your not used to.

One piece of advice from a similar situation is don't go out and think you know the camera unless you do.

This is a situation where you use the technology ( + your knowledge of course) and use the stuff you wouldn't normally use like the auto setting and the program settings. You'll get decent pics mainly, though maybe not the sort you can control yourself. Should work out ok.

    And congrats.

    T.

Unfortunately no insurance.... I really hope they found my bag and I can pick it up... I dont have the money to invest in a new kit at the moment... just got married and bought a new PC earlier. Maybe I´ll buy a film camera and upgrade later.
