    I'm trying to setup my laptop to connect to a wpa network
    Using slax livecd distro. Network card is ipw2100 (intel)

    Is there any good guides on configuring wpa_suppplicant?]
    Anything I have googled has not worked

    Why isn't wpa on linux straight forward like wep support? :(

    Try installing wifirafar
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/wifiradar

    i had to move to a atheros and madwifi to get wpa_supplicant to work:(

    On gentoo instead of using config files I just use this command(for the 2200 you have to use ext instead of ipw I don't know if it's the same for the 2100):
    wpa_supplicant -B -Dwext -ieth1 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf

    wpa_supplicant.conf:
    ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant

    ctrl_interface_group=0

    network={
      ssid="my_ssid"
      proto=WPA
      key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
      pairwise=TKIP
      group=TKIP
      psk=my_key
    }
