Flights to Hawaii?

    Hey,

I'm probably gonna head over to Hawaii (Maui) this summer to visit my friends who will be there on a J1.

I want to go there for approx 16 days during the second half of July. I have to be back by the start of August. I'm trying to find the cheapest fare.
So far, it seems to be American Airlines for about e1250, flying to LA, then Maui.

Can anyone recommend a cheaper way to do it? I've checked all the student travel websites, but it seems no one can beat this price.

Also, does anyone know how long I should stay there? My friends suggest at least two weeks if I want to see everything.

    Thanks in advance!

I'd recommend three years, to really get a feel for the place. :D

AFAIR, Continental fly there from New York - have a look at www.continental.ie. It would be about a 10 hour flight from NY.

Not so sure they would be the cheapest, though.

The Hawaii route is never all that cheap due to fairly high demand. You may end up coughing up a little more, but it's a long flight so I would recommend you do it as directly as possible.
