the stuff in the link costs next to nothing and makes endless amounts of popcorn!

So I was at disny on ice with my son on Monday:
10euro for popcorn, in a plastic bucket! 10euro and I thought the cinema was bad but this place in the foyer of the Point Depot was full of Americans selling Irish people Popcorn for 10 euro a pop! Aren't we the ones who usually rip them off with wolly stuff and fake Leprechaun paraphrenalia?

Who is buying this popcorn anyways? Isn't it about time that you too said no to the overpriced popcorn vendor?

something technological happened and the thread submitted itself before i had a chane to recombodjulate it's inner workings, now that it's finished it makes roughly 43% more sense.

    Just don't buy it tbh.

Buy some of the DIY stuff, make it before you go anywhere, and bring it with you.

I love the DIY stuff btw, nothing like fresh popcorn.

The real popcorn scandal is that Perri seem to have discontinued their Cheesey product, for some reason.

The Manhattan just isn't as nice.

Although the Manhattan regular is by far the best out there.

    Snacks and Sweets tbh.

lol, well it makes sense now. As for the overpriced popcorn, I just don't care anymore. We get ripped off all the time, so I just go with the flow. It's all part of the fun of going to the cinema and the like to have a bag of popcorn and a watered down drink :D

I think the DIY stuff is fresh. Well it is the way I make it. Still buy stuff on occasions.

yeah but the margins they're making on popcorn is scandalous!
it's like them selling us bottled water..no wait bad example...
Look getting ripped off all the time is fine, it's great in fact, it's what makes Ireland lovely, no wait it's what makes Ireland the second most exspensive place in the world to live in but lovely all the same...we've all got loads of dough anyway! but there comes a point where you just have to say no. And popcorn has done it for me. I will not pay more than 2 euro for popcorn anywhere. It's about time that the people who are ripping us off start to realise that they should only be ripping us off to a much lesser extent..yeah! lesser extent!

It is only a rip off if you are retarded enough to pay for it.

Are we the only country in the world where people are sold popcorn and bottled water? No, everywhere does it. It's where cinemas the world over make their money.

thats what I said in the first post
anyways it doesn't absolve the vendor particularly not in situations where he/she is using the kids to get to the parents

Parents should learn to say no. It actually works.

or perhaps you think thats fine..

Do you try to put that post into every thread?

My point is that your whinging about a company selling popcorn at mor than they bought it for, then trying to pass it off under the old "rip off Ireland" cliche. It's called business and happens everywhere.

Dont buy the popcorn, it's that simple.

How was it shoved in their faces exactly? Is every shop in the country not doing the same by having stock on display?

Should we close any premises that sells anything, then only sell to over 18's over the internet because parents cant control whattheir kids make them buy when they see it?

No just the ones where the people have trouble orchestrating a logically progressive thought.

I don't buy popcorn. 10 euro for a single portion of popcorn is outrageous, if you can't see that and think that's only business then you are quite frankly devoid of any sense.

More or less yes but you fail to realise that direct advertisment to kids (targetting) is actually agaist advertising law and even banned in other countries like Sweden for example.

Over 18's are deemed in Law as adults and therefore I've no probelm with shops advertising or seeling to people on this age group as they are able to make up their own minds whereas childern clearly are not.

Cheddar cheese manhattan beats everything else hands down...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,674 ✭✭✭Deliverance

People should be allowed to make their own popcorn, grow their own popcorn trees and make their own popcorn in the cinema. I'm making a stand for pop corn here and now! 5 bucks for a small, xtra large for 7.50.

Just bring a metal pot, a lighter, some tin foil and some seeds from your popcorn tree into the max and enjoy the fresh taste of popcorn on the spot mixed with the salty taste of your own blood as you are beaten by other patrons for f,ing up the movie.

Other than that buy a pack at a nearby shop, toffee flavour is nice. About 50p I think.

    Dunnes you say.

I haven't seen it in newsagents around Dublin in ages, since at least the middle of January.

I'll be around to Dunnes this evening.

Did they still have those icey flavoured snowball drinks that were like a very compact slush puppy at the disney on ice show? I'd have gone just for one of them, and I'd have paid a tenner for it too. I'm their ideal target.

Did you try haggling? That's just a start-off price.
