Got an email off Eircom there for the FWA broadband or Sat broadband, nearly fkn died laughing!!!

I questioned how in the name of god this is competitive and was it anything to do with the fact that the know our exchange is not enabled!!!!

    What a disgrace

Where in Mayo are you ? There are other options than Eircom, even in Mayo.

Those prices are pretty fair. There is no one on FWA really. Less then 1000 last I looked over a year ago. Don't think anything has changed.

Eircom don't specialise in FWA or Sattalite hence why it's so expensive.

As Marlow said, there are more options other than Eircom.

Also it maybe just me but i think the title of your thread is a little misleading. You know the price.

Are westnet.ie not around your part of Mayo , they would provide a better package for way less ??

many have applied for that eircom package only to be rebuffed, whats the contact information to get a quote out of the tossers ???

You have westnet in the North, us on the south border (currently Abbeyknockmoy, soon Headford, Glenncorrib and Shrule) and if all of that fails, there is http://www.thewan.net, which is an experimenter community network, that you can use to get to somewhere with broadband, currently expanding madly around Claremorris etc, but plans for further north, too.

    Kind regards,
    Martin List-Petersen

Abbeyknockmoy is nearly 20 miles from the Mayo border which would mean you are not in Mayo .

"coming soons" are cheap in the ISP industry ...and meaningless .

who else operates IN Mayo by the way apart from Lastmile in the extreme SE corner near Ballyhaunis???

instead of doing that, pay someone to go into the nearest town and burn the data you want onto a few dvds. much faster and cheaper

imagine if he takes half an hour to get out and back but brings ten 4.7GB dvds. that's a data rate of 26 Mbps!!!

Aye, the travel to the nearest town is nearly the best option!!!

Aye Westnet are also "here" well it seems I cannot get them, they had a look at our site and it seems that on initially surveying we cannot see the line of sight masts!!

Orla-Ya I thinks its only you who finds it misleading ;)

I didn't write Mayo, I wrote on the south border of Mayo and we can and will build as there is demand. Currently the work is put in place to go as far up as Miltown. Also the location defines only where we broadcast from.

Our basestation north of Headford is in Co. Mayo, matter of fact, but first going life next month and Shrule is definatly Mayo. So where is your problem ?

But Not live, "coming soon" is what you said. Abbeyknockmoy is live .

ISP promises eh, this country would be so different if every "coming soon "was live !

You are in Mayo when you can provide a service within the county border. Please do not claim to so do from Abbeyknockmoy which is 20 miles away, ...like I said.

    Thanks.

If you want it that precise: We DO have customer that are currently connected in Co. Mayo. Full stop.

No empty promises. And in regards to "coming soon" means within 2 month in Airwire terms.

    /Martin

Why did he not simply say , 'we are Airwire and we have customers in south Mayo ' instead of giving us a dose of the "coming soon" longuers ???

ISPs peddling vapourware bring out the worst in me, thats true . Thats from long experience . Do you have a f***** problem with that Boston :D

Therefore I put Marlow to the pin. If he had no Mayo customers and no live service in Mayo then he had no business in a thread about ISP options in Mayo did he ?????

and as for aggressive :p , Marlow , unfortunately for him, has some right charmers following him around boards . I am not one of these charmers , never have been . I stick to facts which if not proven (to me) are vapourware.

The charmers seem to have disappeared after recent discoveries, that they just were advertising instead of killing.
