I got to interview stage

    With thanks to a lot of tips on here for preparing a cover letter and cv i have got thru to the interview stage of a job I would love to get. I am now doing some cramming for the interview.

    Apologies if these questions have been answered in here somewhere but I have not seen them yet.

    Obviously I really want to get this job, but I also want to know some conditions of the job. Should I ask these in the interview, I dont want to come across like its all I care about either u know....how often are salary reviews given, do u get vhi or anything like that, any perks like time in lieu...etc etc. I have never really been for a 'proper' interview - came straight out of college into this current job and been here for years!! Anyway.......if they dont tell me the answer to questions like these should I ask them??

    Also, i wouldnt be an overly confident person, I probably come across more quiet, but should I put on a front here of the confident, bubbly type of person or will that show that I am being fake??

    Generally speaking, asking about salary, time off, reviews, benefits, etc. is a no no at the interview stage.

    However, asking about how you can progress within a company (such as training, moving up levels, etc.) shows ambition and in most cases is to be encouraged.

    Just make sure you don't come across wanting only to know "what's in it for me". Show that you are genuinely interested in getting on and bettering yourself.

    Definitely don't bring up the money unless they ask you first - sometimes they will ask you what your current salary is, or what you expect to earn if you get this job, but otherwise don't bring it up.

    Remember that the interview can also be for the company to sell themselves to you, they may well want to bring up the benefits before you do.

    Exactly - ambition is good to show. Ask them what the performance indicators for your job are - i.e. how they measure your performance.

    If they don't ask you what you want to be doing in 2 years time (which is a valid question to ask, not one of the wishy-washy interview questions), then ask them how they would see someone in that role progressing in the organisation.

    Don't try and be "bubbly" if that's not who you are, but do try and come across as confident as you can.
