What is appleworks?

    happened to spot Appleworks on the apple website today. WHat is Appleworks? Is it an advanced version of iWork?

    I've not used either unfortunately as I have yet to buy my first mac :)

    Appleworks is about 16 years old now, and hasn't been updated in about 3 years. It's not bad, but it is very dated. It's biggest advantage over iWork is that is contains modules for spreadsheets, database and drawing, not just word processing and presentation.

    I wouldn't go buying it, to be honest. iWork, NeoOffice and MS Office are all considerably better.

    Yeah Apple have pretty much abandoned development of it. There isn't an intel version of it either. I think iWork is intended to replace it eventually.
