SkyHD box fan noise

I have a new (think its a Thompson) sky HD box and the odd time the fan (not the hd) spins up and stays quite loud, I let it go for a few hours until I eventually restarted the box. It wasn't recording anything. Is this a regular occurance does anyone know?

Happened to me the other day too. Just powered it off and it hasn't happened again since.

i have found that leaving the box plugged out for a few hours or over night makes the fans almost completely quiet
