HI , i am going to attempt install a new free to air system and just have a question for you , It will be sited at our mobile home in kerry by the sea .I noticed that quality bars on 2 of my friends television are almost gone and their dishes have rusted badly over the winter , sea air I suppose , should I try to protect against rust by painting dish or dose it matter that dishes are rusty , sorry if this has been covered before

Sky minidishes and any painted steel dish will rust badly in marine climate.
Rust on the surface of dish will make little difference to reception , but is unsightly and will lead to structural weakening of the dish eventually.
Before this happens the steel 'L' arm of a sky dish bracket will rust to the point that the dish is moving in the wind or drops out of correct elevation. (this is esp. true if the L arm has been mounted upside down so that rain can fall down the tube and collect at the bottom). Lidl type dishes are also inadequate , again being painted mild steel, but also having a very flimsey plastic back support and a hopelessy bendy wall mount.
Best thing for you is a triax td64 dish. Constuction is all either well gavanised steel or good quality aluminium.
Your neighbours with low quality readings are likely to have badly alinged dishes.
Technomate receiver is excellent choice by the way.

I agree with Rippy, go for a good Triax TD64. They seem to have a great resistance to rust.

Also would be no harm to grease up the bolts etc after dish is setup, to make sure the threads don't corrode, making them impossible to screw open again should the need arise.

If you've already a cheap dish or a Sky Minidish, maybe some Hammerite would do the trick. Particularly recommended on the bracketry.
