This isn't the right forum for your post, so I'm moving it to Travel/Holidays...although the Things To Do In... forum would also seem a logical choice.

The weather is hot and humid.

Visit the night safari. Most hotels will be able to point you in the right direction.

The Shangri-La is a 5 star hotel and with walking distance to Orchard Road which is the main shopping area. It is an excellent hotel.

I was in the Shangri-La about a week ago and it is a fantastic hotel - I recommend the swimming pool after dark. I second the recomendation for the night safari and also there is a jungle walk in the north that is worth doing.
Singapore sling at Raffles is fairly common for a first time visitor to Singapore but vastly overpriced.

Check out Little India for great food and there's also loads of hostels there if you need to stay someplace reasonable. Go to Sim Lin Square if you want to pick up any cheap electronic goods. Its great for cheap lap tops, cameras, memory cards etc.. In my opinion Orchard road is a waste of time, unless you're minted and willing to shell out for Guchi, Armani etc. Also like the others have said the night safari is a must if you go to Singapore, dont forget mosquito spray (the johnsons baby stuff is best ive used...)

First off night safari is no great shakes. Watching elephants sway form side to side makes me think the animals are having mental breakdown.
Yes it is different but worth dragging your ass out of city that distance and paying that much? No.
Half the animals you cannot really see and the others look as if they could do with a few hours sleep.

Also be very aware buying any electronics or camera gear.
Know what you want and check out prices before you go.
That way you know if you really are getting a bargain or if it appears that way.
Also do not get pulled in by some of the cons e.g selling cheapo lens, at high price, as something that will improve your camera by order of multitude.
    Watch out for warranty issues.
Bargains can be eeked out but watch for the pitfalls.

The city is very safe, clean and the staff in hotels offer fantastic level of service. Wander down to Raffles and spend a couple of hours chilling having a Singapore slim.
Food is very good as well.

I am not allowed discuss …
