if i get a water softener installed will the softened water eventually disolve the scale that had built up inside the pipes and the hot water tank?

it has been a long time for someone to answer !

    the answer is Yes 🤙

water gets hard in the first place because soft rainwater runs over hard limestone rock underground (usually) and dissolves some of it, in turn it gets hard, the slightly acidic 5.5 to 6.0 pH slightly carbonated with CO2 rainwater, is not as bad like as vinegar on egg shells, but soft water has a milder soluble effect on carbonates and so will dissolve them over time. that is what is happening in your pipes in your house with softened water

god, 2007 you asked that, do you still have the softener ! probably if it is a good one 💪
