Not a bad offer this one. This is the cheapest I've seen it anywhere and I've been looking for a while. Works out at about €217 including delivery.

    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=318650

You should be able to get the 60Gb model for about €270 + delivery on ebay (as a friend of mine did) and I know its only an extra €65 but they are very bulky imo and delivery can be expensive on ebay.

Does anyone know if these creative mp3 players can be used on a Mac? Looking at the system requirements it doesn't list the mac. Really don't like the ipod's and these creatives are excellent.

This offer is still running too: Vision:M 30GB + FREE skin & screen protector €225.00
Is still doesn't state the colour though.
I've a lime one and love it, the skin & screen protector are pretty much essential but then again so is the complete Accessories Pack which inludes the silicone skin.

that screen protector is a bit of a joke, your much better off getting a BSE skin or invisibleSHIELD. BSE were the one's I went for and there brilliant and cheap enough.

€205euro is pretty sweet alright, mine was 350 back in the day but well worth it. Still going strong now and not a mark on it. Brilliant player with an excellent screen. Only downsides to it are that it doesn't really work as a portable hard-drive (i know you can reserve part but not the same) and that it doesn't allow you to view by directory just tags. Accessories are a bit limited, damn ipod stealing them all :D The silicone skin looks crap on black versions too and makes it a bit chunkier don't like it :) BSE all the way.

Other than that its pretty much tops.

Quick question - I'm interested in buying the €205 Creative Zen - for music but also because of the radio function. Does anyone know if it's simple to record radio shows to this i.e. does it have a timer-record facility or do you have to download podcasts?? Sound quality isn't a major issue... think I know the answer but am still stuck in last century technology :(

not sure about the timer facility but I know you can simply record from the radio and it doesn't have to be a podcast.

It easy to use for FM recording but sadly no timer function, the quality is decent though. As far as I know it records for up to 10 hours (never tried this) and you can split files easily enough, thats if you really must get your favourite show. ;)

I think they only work with windows. The drivers they use are general portable media player drivers you get with windows media player 10+. Creative don't make their own drivers for their mp3 players anymore.

Don't know much about it but apparently its not offically supported as the system uses a Windows 'Media Transfer Protocol' not found on Macs.
But as always there are some with the know-how to overcome such obstacles, help is at hand here: http://www.wentnet.com/projects/xnjb/
There's a brief thread on it here: http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=pmc&message.id=38132

Great, thanks for the replies on that. It might be a bit awkward but I reckon it'll be worth it over an ipod anyday.

I aint really all that "up" with what modern MP3s can do... I just want it for listening to music/radio and watching films on etc...

what other cool sh*t can they do and how easy/difficult is it to find ur way round these things?

    Cheers...

It's simple - just get the cable and plug it into the tv. YOu can get a scart adaptor if you don't have the red, white and yellow outlets on the tv.

you use 'creative video converter' to transfer the divx to the player. It usually just tansfers in about a minute - very rarely has to convert the file.

By the way everyone, Creative are still running their promotion for these; anyone that buys a creative Zen M or V can claim a free accessory. Currently it's the video cable for the Zen M, and an armband for the Zen V. You can claim here.

    Enjoy!

So I can plug it into the TV and record TV episodes, Films etc. ?

    From reading the description on

it dosnt mention being able to do that

    No, you can't record.

You can watch Videos / Photos from your Zen on your TV.

    Wot a bargain!

Mine arrived y'day - haven't got a chance to fiddle about with it yet (stupid work) but will dig in later when I get home...

The software has a built-in converter (as in I dont think I need to download one from the net) but will this also condense films etc so they don't take up as much space on the mp3? Sorry if that's a stupid question.

yeah it will, it converts them to WMV by default...for example a 350mb episode of lost or whatever would condense down to about 180mb in WMV...there is a little quality loss and the quality when hooked up to a TV would be dismal...i dont bother converting unless i have to
