    Hello All,

Just looking for a few tips, We are getting married in October and are staying in New York for a week, We are booking our hotel now and a big thing for me is that I always wanted a view of the new york skyline at night from the room, Any recommendations for a really nice hotel in Manhattan for a honeymoon with a cool view? Thanks, Could you give a rough price as well? :D:D

Check out tripadvisor.com for opinions on the various hotels after you have used the sticky thread on the top of the forum called "Useful sites for flights, hotels and more..." to price them.

You shouldn't expect other people to do the dirty work for you.

I'm just back from NY and found the hotel we stayed in great - with a fab view of the city. The hotel was Affinia Dumont - think we paid around 1200eur for 5 nights (not cheap but not too bad considering hotel prices in general in NY). That was for a junior suite I think it was - very big room, couch, desk , large bed and a small kitchenette which was handy even just for having some drinks in fridge etc! Hotel is about 10 mins walk from Macys, and even nearer to Empire State. Hotel has spa and gym as well.

I don't have my pics on the PC yet but if you look at tripadvisor.com (under candid traveller photos) you'll see pics that other people have posted which include views from their rooms - if you go with it just put on the special requests that you want a high up corner room - we were on 27th floor! The corner rooms give a view of the city on one side and the river on other.

I think he may have meant personal experiences...

i've stayed in a hotel (double trees) on times square, not a great view from all of the rooms, but great atmosphere and right in the heart of NY.

i've also stayed in an embassy suites in secaucus new jersey, 20 mins on the bus into manhatten. Great view of the skyline from here.

to get a good view of the skyline you'll need to be far away from the centre.

If a view of the Manhattan skyline is your primary criterion for your hotel, perhaps you should look to stay somewhere on the Brooklyn side of the river.

Failing that, as you're on honeymoon and probably want to stay in the heart of things, stay in Manhattan, but make sure you get to the River Cafe where you can enjoy fabulous views like this:
