Only a small thing but maybe convert all prices to €, just to make it easier to judge.

the fake ones work fine, and seeing as most ppl here on boards with a psp probably have fake ones, i cant remember seeing any threads saying my fake pro duo is not working. You would probably get 2 fake ones for the price of some of them listed if there still the same price as they were when i checked out ebay before i sold my psp. I thought the only thing work with fake ones were slower transfer speed anyways.

not agree. I've got fake one, transfer speed was awfull, errors saving games, so I have to send to back and ask for refund. Since then, I have been looking for genuine, and couln't find it on ebay. Probaly I'll get one in dabs.ie.

Yep i agree, even though they are fake, they work perfectly, to the average user, they will never know the difference.

I bought one of these the other day on eBay.

Costs 37euro (in total). Dunno whether its real or fake. Guess I'll find out in a week or two.

There is something how you can recognize is it fake or not, hope you have a right one, but ....

You might get hit with Import Tax though Johnp.

Do customs open the package to see what is been sent and do a lookup of its real price or do they charge based on declared value on envelope.
How much would import tax on something that was 37 euro be?

I've got to say that I've bought 3 x 2Gb duos on ebay and never had a problem with them in my camera/PSP/Laptop

    Cheers for that.
Ah well, hopefully it'll work fine anyway. I'm not too worried about it being fake, so long as it works.

He says he marks it as "Gift", so I should be OK. I can't imagine it'll be too much (on 37euro), if they do come knocking.

I bought a 4 GB on eBay (probably fake) November last year, and haven't had any problems with it so far, touch wood. I paid about €80 back then when it was selling for €199 at the usual outlets.

    But fakes are Illegal.

Play don't ship electronic items to Ireland due to the WEEE charges.

And what a lot (if not most!) of these 'real' large memory cards are put to isn't??

You should never buy fake memory cards - it's just wrong guys!

Plus they have high failure rates, could damage your equipment and have no guarantee.

I'd never use one - especially for use in a camera. Imagine losing your images due to a failure of the card!?

Support good online retailers instead. You can get very good prices which are often much better than what the usual bricks and mortar outlets in Ireland will offer.

    /end of rant :)

Agreed. even ebay says you should inform about counterfeit memory card, ask for refund and send it back.
I'm now trying to find used 4Gb or 2Gb Pro Duo as new once still expensive.

If you are going to use it in a PSP, try to get a high speed one. I bought a supposed real one from a boards seller but it was fake. Returned it. I'm still using a 2GB high speed from Mobymemory and it's really good. The newer cards with higher capacities are quite expensive and that's without the high speed branding.

    Sony Centre 4GB - 200 Euro.
    Sony Centre 8GB - 300 Euro.

You can buy much cheaper online as it mentioned in the very first post.

Yes of course, these are the 'shop' prices. But if you buy a 4GB for like 40 Euro, then its likely a fake. We can use the above prices to determine a good price versus an impossible to be genuine price. If you know what I mean.

    Cheers

Yes I know what you mean.
You couldn't buy genuine one for €40 but you can find it online for €70-80 no problem. I thing it worth it.
And it also possible to get used 2x 2Gb genuine for 2x€20 on ebay :)

    Thanks

Got 2Gb used genuine memory stick today for €20 on ebay, so you can get 2x2gb for €40 if you be lucky. And for €40 on ebay you can only get fake. So I thing it worth to get genuine 2x2Gb rather than 4Gb fake.

Well, my fake 4GB card arrived the other day. I stuck it into my phone and the screen went white. I cr*pped myself. Then the screen returned to normal. I guess it was just digesting the extra storage :D
I stuck about 2Gb of music on it and it is working perfectly.
Yeah, I know there's the chance that it'll crash, but it's only holding music, so I'm not worried if I lose it.

I was in France at the weekend and a high street store had 4Gb Sony Memory Stick Pros for €79. Pretty good value for a bricks and mortar place I thought.

http://www.mymemory.co.uk/Sony-PSP have 4G Sandisk ones down to £39.99 now, which is about €59. Not bad for genuine. Postage is about another €5 on top though. The price on

I have a fake one from eBay, transfer rate is a lot slower than the genuine (about half the speed) but once everything is on there's no noticeable difference.
