Largest Concert Staged By A Third Level Institution

    Hey music lovers

I know you are intrigued...yep Irish students are going to hold the largest concert to be held by third level institutions ever (in Ireland anyway...maybe the world who knows!).

Plans are currently underway to get the biggest Irish bands to play in the biggest Irish venue all in the name of charity-and who says the youth of today are a pack of wasters!?

The concert is being spearheaded by UCD and the charity 'Such is life'. 'Such is life' is a charity that is established in 2nd level institutions that raises money for childrens charities each year. Last year they raised €60,000 for the Laura Lynn foundation. This year we are bringing 'Such' by storm to 3rd level institutions and showing the world how Irish students are a force to be reckoned with. This year all proceeds from the concert will go towards Smile Organisation and Autism Ireland and we aim to raise well in excess of $60,000.

Ok so here is how you can help
    1. We need a name-an eye catching name that screams this is gona be big!
    2. We need someone to design our website
    3. We need photograpers

So please contribute to this exciting expression of utter madness with a few ideas, names or offers of support.

    Thanks

What level do photographers have to be and is there anything else they'd have to do?

    It's called Waynestock.

Waynestock. Who's going to be there?

    Aerosmith... and Pearl Jam.

    Who else?

Me and Wayne. And... And... Van Halen.

    Van Halen. Who else?

An old man fashioning a kayak out of a log...?

    What?

    No! Rip Taylor!

    Rip Taylor's gonna be there?

Rip Taylor? He's a God in my country. He gets mobbed in the street.

Great, 'cause he's gonna be there.

    Ooh this is getting exciting.

Photographers would need to have quite a high level of photography knowledge...because I don't have any! I could organise the president to attend the opening of a crisp bag but as for photography or webdeisgn I'm lost.
I do know however that the photographer would need to know a bit more about cameras than how to operate a digital one.

Any photographers that are interested could email me a few samples of their work or direct me in a way as to where I could see them.

Infact if anyone has any advice on photography for me please throw it this way!-so I don't sound quite so stupid as I do now.

The photographs will be used on our website, and as part of the television programme that will be produced.

who's gonna be playing? would you be getting any college bands to play or is this strictly a professional job?

We are aiming for the creme de la creme and have a few negotiations going on at the moment, but I also want up and coming bands awell especially seeming as there are some really good ones out there at the moment, it will just be hard to decide which ones.

Anyone got anymore names? The three suggested are real good, I would just like to have a selection to bring to the board meeting

Ok, that rules me out of photography anyway, cos I only know how to operate a digital one! Although, if there is a DIT forum here, check there, cos there is a photgraphy course there, and some may be interested.

If your looking for someone who may be interested in playing, I know someone who might play. Although this may just be encroaching too far on what your doing, so excuse me in advance if it is. Just PM me if your intereseted. Must say its a great idea though, and good luck with it

Ooh that is a good name too-I like the poster idea.

Getting up and coming bands I defo dont think will be hard. We are setting up a bebo site in a few weeks where bands can join if they want to get involved in the battle of the bands thing.

Eh that's not it-trust me! And I definitely wouldn't call it that because it gives off the wrong impression about what the concert is about...it's not going to be marketed as being a big drinking session.
