    Howdy heads??

    right..yesterday I almost bought a 03 Honda Vtx 1800cc.

    like this:
    honda-vtx1800.jpg

I'm gonna send a deposit for it on tuesday hopefully.

It will be costing me 13,000euro.
It has been modified a lot...and makes a harley sound like a yank whining about their psychiatric bills.

    Does anyone know these bikes?
are they as reliable as my current Shadow??

It is expensive for me...so i wanted to hear your opinions.

Should I go for it?? or not??
make my mind up for me please

When you're buying a bike of this pedigree you'll need to look further afield than the shiney showrooms in good auld Rip-Off-Ireland.

Have a look in the UK or Germany, you might be pleasently surprised even with the VRT.

That sounds expensive to me, too.

I bought a RK about 2 months ago, but whilst shopping, I came across an absolute mint Sportster 1200 Custom, for less. A V-Rod isn't much more, new....kinda

And a bunch of big Suzuki's. I think - although I may have heard it wrong - that were only that much, new.

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Those VTX 1800's are nice bikes. A good upgrade from your Shadow would be to a Shadow 1100 (Sabre or Spirit in the States) (they're VT1100's). Shaft drive, very reliable, plenty fast with lots of aftermarket accessories available.

You mentioned a Sporty. How do Harleys handle the Irish weather? I'm just curious as I thought that may be an option for a future purchase of my own in Ireland.

JP motorcycles on Pearse St. had one recently enough for a fraction of that, not sure what year though.
13k is a rip-off price for a VTX, if youre looking for a 2nd hand one try up North at the very least, the age will save you the VRT and you wont have to pay the vat. Even mailand UK is worth looking, nice road trip home.

The shadow 1100 is a nice bike, and that you will find here and at very reasonable prices.
