Hi there,
There is an issue with role permissions that is being worked on at the moment.
If you are having trouble with access or permissions on regional forums please post here to get access: https://www.boards.ie/discussion/2058365403/you-do-not-have-permission-for-that#latest

To edit or not to edit, that is the question!

I've seen on some other forum i looked at recently, that members give permission/or not, to edit any photographs that they post.
Is there a need for something like this here?
I've taken the liberty once or twice myself but thought later 'perhaps i shouldn't have done that without explicit permission' like maybe someone spent ages with a photograph to get it just the way they wanted it, only to have someone - me for instance, make a right mess of it!! Perhaps it would be nice to have permission before going at someone's work of art!

this isn't aimed at anyone or related to any specific incident, just a random thought! :)

Not sure I'd ever edit someone else's photo unless they specifically asked me or, if it was a stranger, posted something with a request to help fix it ...

I'd consider someone editing one of my pictures without my permission an insult ... unless of course it was done in jest by a friend, as in transplanting heads or something like that ...

I thought there was something about not editing without permission in the charter but I can't see anything now. Maybe I dreamt it..

I think unless someone says edit away I wouldn't. Not that I'd know where to start usually anyway.

I don't think it has ever been an issue here, thanks be to jazus. Leave well enough alone I say. We might start taking ourselves too seriously and where would we end up then?

If their photo is within the Creative Commons you're fully within your rights to, so long as you respect the licence.

I have a terrible habit of editing first asking later. :o
I guess pictures should be fair game unless otherwise stated by the poster, this is a public forum after all.
If anyone has a problem with my blundering attempt at defacing their work I'm perfectly happy to remove it.

As regards posting my own work (something rare enough) I say fire away!
