Have to go up later on this week. . .have looked at www.ulsterbus.com which leaves Busaras at decent times to arrive up there but can't find any prices anywhere

Their Call Centre wont be open until next week . .anyone got any idea how much a return fare is ?

    Thanks

    Hello Sheepshagger (ahem).

Not sure about your question re buses from busaras but can tell you that the Aircoach from the airport takes about 2 hours (same as the train, actually often quicker what with railway line security alerts and the occasional need for bus transfers in Newry) and a return costs only 18E.

On Bus Eireann website (where fares to Belfast are made as difficult to find as possible),

    Plan journey here: http://194.106.151.88/bin/query.exe/e

Price is also 18E ccording to the bottom of the following page (9 lines from the end) http://www.buseireann.ie/site/your_journey/fares_and_tickets.asp

Are you heading up for the u19 rugby ?

Train is also an option, the Belfast Enterprise is a nice train and you can relax and have a few drinks on it, it's about 35-40 euro return.

    Yep - I am.

Looked at both the Aircoach and/or the Enterprise but the bus comes back later (so we can enjoy a few more pints up there afterwards).

I'm assuming theres toilets on board these types of buses. . as its a 2.5 hour journer after a few pints.

I go to Belfast quite regularly and would never get the train (again). Aircoach and Bus Eireann / Translink run hourly services and BE now run nightly services too. Not sure if the buses have toilets though.

Aircoach charge are €12 single and €18, except for Tuesdays and Wednesdays when its €10 single and €15. I think Bus Eireann change much the same.

I've had nothing but bad experiences on the Enterprise. It costs almost three times as much, has taken over 3 hours any time I've gotten it, hasn't always been the Enterprise coachset, catering has been hit and it's much less frequent. IMHO Aircoach is a much better service, much more comfortable than the train and far cheaper.

Bus Eireann/Ulster Bus just increased their prices, I think.

Aircoach only run Dublin AIRPORT-Belfast, you have to change at the airport to get to the city.

Ulsterbus/Bus Eireann run throughout the night at 11pm, 1am, 3am, 5am. But be warned, if you are pissed and rowdy the drivers will probably refuse you, there has been trouble before (more because the night time pick-up is in front of a niteclub than because of drunken passengers) so some of them are on the lookout for any possible trouble.

And no there are not toilets on any of the coaches so go before you go.

Ulsterbus have changed their prices, most have actually gone down but the cross border ones have increased.

Dublin-Belfast is now €14 single and €20 return, a handful of departures are cheaper at €8 single as marked in the timetable
