Im in the process of flashing my 360 at the moment but it requires me to have a VIA SATA chipset. Im not sure how to go about checking for this.

I have a Dell Dimension 5000, 3 Ghz processor w/ HT. Any advice appreciated! Thanks!

Control Panel\System\Device Manager and it should be under IDE\ATAPI Controllers.

dell computers usually have an intel controller, compatible with certain firmware versions. Check the make and the model of the dvd reader, you might be able to flash it with an intel chipset.

I tried flashing my drive yesterday, but when I plug in the SATA to the 360, it tells me it cannot find the drive, so I dont think my SATA connection has VIA enabled. I have already purchased a VIA PCI controller from ebay. Ill flash it when that arrives. I will let you know how I get on!

This only applies if you have a Hitachi drive AFAIK, if you've got one of the other manufacturer's drives then it's a (slightly) different process.
