You can now rent TV boxsets in Xtra-Vision.

€6 for two nights or a week for €10.

Just some of the boxsets i saw in my local store were:

    Arrested Development - Seasons 1/2
    Nip Tuck - Seasons 1/2
    Desperate Housewives - Seasons 1/2
    Lost - Seasons 1/2
    Deadwood - Season 1
My Name Is Earl - Season 1
    Scrubs - Seasons 1 - 3

Have posted this in Bargain Alerts also!

For a minute there I thought we were back in the 80s for a minute there when people without video playing machines could rent 'video boxes'.

I fore-see widespread abuse by unscrupolous people with dodgy software ;)

Think it's great meself.. the main reason i subscribed to stuff like Moviestar and Screenclick was for just this.

The only problem with online rental like Screenclick is they rent a disc at a time. So in a show with multiple discs (as most are), it's a common case of getting a 'Disc 6' before you get 'Disc 1'! :D

At least this way you get the full collection in the one rental!

    About this Xtra-Vision done it.

I have to agree this is a great idea, one that is in so many other countries for a long time. From the list above as I only just found out about it now,i would like to rent as I missed the boat on some shows while others I already have them on DVD or don't feel compelled to rent them (Desperate Housewives)
    Deadwood - Season 1
My Name Is Earl - Season 1
    Arrested Development - Seasons 1/2
    Nip Tuck - Seasons 1/2

So are they renting full seasons of 45min shows as one, or are they spliting them so you can get roughly 12 45min episodes, and for half hour shows 24 23min episodes, if you follow.

Or is a third option; it varies!

    nah man
lost is relaased as 2 halfs ,and ,at same time as release of 2nd, as full season, thier not doing the full season
as far as im aware, csi [all of them] and pirsion break are the only others that do this

That's good, must have a look during the week, might get something before the weekend. Once people start to notice they stock them they might be hard to get. It's good to see though, there's lots of tv I'd like to watch but I'm not interesting in buying.

true, however I think the bigger issue, will be actually getting people to return them. :D

they'll prolly just about break even, with return fees Vs people making off with them.

Ye we just got ours in last week. Have pretty much seen everything we have with the exception of sex and the city which I don't really want to see. The bigger stores get more in.

We have what basquille mentioned plus the West wing seasons 1-7,sopranos 1-6,deadwood 1 and 2, few family guy, few simpsons, all seasons of 24,scrubs. apparantly more to come. Just hope they get the wire in! more people need to see it!

Shame on those who speak ill of Laser, puts Xtravision to shame in terms of choice. A comedy setion which extends further than Will Farrel/Ben Stiller films.

Shame on those who can't read a post properly. When did I speak ill of Laser? Fair play to them for renting boxsets, xtra vision should have done it a long time ago. Just saying that is is one store in Dublin whereas now people all over the country can rent boxsets because there are so many xtra-visions. That's all I said.

Cool the jets, it was a soft rib, more of a proclamation of my laser fanboism.
