    Hi

I have one of these units bought from a well known retailer that I really don't want to go back to! Problem is that it says that there is a print jam. I've checked and can not see even a scrap of paper inside it. Can any one shed any light on this - is there a way of bypassing it?

there should be a reset on the printer, this usually means holding down a configeration of buttons. Check yoru manual or online for this. Then this should sort the problem.

    From HP:
    Clearing a “False” paper jam
If the paper jam error message is appearing without paper (stuck or otherwise) in the machine, you may be experiencing a “False” paper jam.
Perform a test page without paper in the machine. Press the OK and Help keys at the same time to print an internal test page. After doing the key press, the machine should prompt you to put paper in with the “ Out of Paper” error message. If the machine doesn’t display this, but displays “ Paper Jam”, then you are seeing a “False” paper jam. If this occurs, proceed to the following steps
Perform a reset on the unit by following the steps below:
Make sure that the unit is on, and unplug the power cord from the back of the unit. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait 30 seconds, then plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
On the unit keypad press the OK and the Help keys simultaneously and hold both keys down while plugging in the power cord.
The Semi-full Reset message will appear on the unit display.
Wait until the unit initialization process is complete. The unit will have recovered its original settings.
If you have completed all of the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service your product.

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, the unit is still insisting that it has paper stuck inside in it after a reset. It goes straight from a 'OMH Reset' to you still have a paper jam! Looks like it's back to the store with it where I'll be promptly told that it's not a warranty issue and it's actually all my fault etc.

Your 1 year manufactures warrenty will cover any defect with the product, unless you have caused physical damage to it.

It's about 4 months old, printed 5 pages in it's life and the warning light has been flashing for 3 months!

Best you take it back. Dont worry to much if you dont have your receipt, As if you bought it on your laser or credit card that is enough for proof of purchase.
