ML stats confirm cliches

Just looking at the ML table it became apparent that a few "cliches" seem confirmed by the stats.

    Leinster top the group with F 390 A308 BP9 Pts 51

They have the worst defence in the top 7 outside of the Scarlets and the 5th most conceded points in the league.
This seems to reflect their loose game and the Scarlets similar style also seems to back this up with their similarly poor record in defence.

Both these teams conversely have the best points scored record by quite a distance in the league and over 3rd best Ulster (LN390, SC384 &UL 347 ). This is again reflected in Leinsters high conceding ERC defeats compared to Munsters tighter defeats as was recorded in the press recently and on this forum.

Munster have the best defence in the league but have scored less points than all teams except the Borders and Cardiff ( 2 games in hand on Munster owever )

Munster, sterotypically, show their inability to score tries by their low bonus point tally and Leinster backs like wise the highest BP tally in the league.

The stats really do seem to enforce the old cliches and make for interesting comments:
Leinster loose, flowing high risk, concentration lapsing in defence and Munster tight and controlled low scoring grind.
Worrying in their own ways too!!
I wonder would a similar analysis on the ERC stats from this year give similar results?

NB. This is pure observation on stats and presented in manner such as to have a fun wink at cliches and is in no way attmept to start any L V M debates!

Where's the stat that shows how many away matches Leinster won this season?

    Is that a loaded question?

    Just counted :

1 from 7 and a draw. Shocking really, 3 aways on run in to finish left.

Munster in comparison are 3 from 9. Both teams beat Connacht away.

Leinster 3 away and 1 home left and Munster the other way round.

By the end of the season Leinster will have to have a better away record than Munster to have won, signs dont point to this.

In all fairness 2 shocking records by the two.

LLaneli have 3 home and an away to Munster, aside from the away game they ae looking good with the game in hand.

Another Leinster implosion could lose this best of the losers ( non HCup ) competition:mad:

    Good research Diamondmaker.
In defence of Munster I think this years ML is a write off for them. They didn't seem to take the comp too seriously and when they tried to they were ravaged by injuries both international and squad wise.
I think it was "the hangover season" that both players and fans would like to finish asap so we can concentrate on the World Cup.
I still think Leinster will win the ML tho, deservedly.
Next years HC will be a shootout between the 3 provinces and Llanelli.
