blinds 150/300, i think this was with no ante.

    button 8k
    sb 12kish
I think I had about 12k at this stage

I haven't looked at my cards yet, and it's pretty obvious I haven't looked at them. my image is fairly tight at this point, other than 1/2 limped pots, none of my hands have gotten to showdown.

sb, is some scandie kid I think, strong player.

    folded to the button.

He makes it 1k, he's done this the last two times it's been folded to him so far through the day, he took the blinds each time.

sb looks at his cards, and makes it 3k.

    I look down at 86o.

What do u think of a, "look at my cards, look right, look at my chips", and a raise to something like 9k?

well i would just push if i was to do it, i think its a reasonable play as long as you are sure their ranges are reasonably wide and can fold up to JJ

you have 40 BB and you wanna commit your stack with 8,6 to a raise and a reraise? I think you can find a better spot tbh

hmmm, i dunno, i dont like it but maybe thats why i'm not at the irish open?

its alot of your chips committed to a steal and your in no rush to make a move but suppose your image counts for alot.

I had only 3bet a couple of times at this point, one was light and got through, one didn;t make it to showdown.

the other was qq against the sb in this hand, he made it 350 early on in the day, i made 1k.

we checked a kkjxx board to the river and he called a 1200 bet and mucked.

so my image is pretty good in that respect.

if it was suited maybe :D

I see your line of thought and does depend on image and perception of all 3 players but in tournaments like these, patience is the key imo

anyway, i folded and was pretty disappointed with myself. I kinda thought watching everyone folding, the button would raise, sb reraise and I should come over the top with ATC(!), but didn't go through with it.

as it happened the button shoved for 7-8k total with kojak and was called pretty quickly by aqo.

It might have been interesting tho, on the face of it, he should obviously fold to the action, but button obviously has a wide range, so he's gonna play back pretty light, and he knows that I know that, so he might call me lightish, I doubt it tho.

I coulda picked a good few chips here, and probably would have been goot for my image. or I might have been called and looked like a bit of a moron!

    dealer (ditpoker)
    button (connie147)
    sb (decent scandie)
    bb (phantom_lord)
    _________

i think if you push you keep connie in the tournament as i think his KJ play was just a resteal thinking sb was weak. I didnt see enough of the small blind to guess what he'd do if you push but the impression i got was that he was NEVER folding AQ...

Yep, a push would have got through me.I had a pretty tight image myself(i thought), only showed dowm a few hands that were pretty big. the scandie had been caught stealing a few times and I was sure he wasnt strong when he reraised, I pushed thinking he would fold most anything except QQ, KK AA or AK but he made a call with AQ after a longish dwell up. cest la vie

yeah, you had a pretty tight image, but at the same time it was a pretty obvious spot to steal!
