I realise that scratching with CD's will never be the same as vinyl but is there a major difference? Just how good are pioneer CDJ's for scratching? Can anyone tell me if cdj 800's are any use in this respect, i've seen some videos on youtube but id just like to know how close they come to emulating vinyl

    cheers

From the video's I've seen on youtube etc plety of people seem to be able to scratch just fine with CDJ's - I suppose it's all just down to technique... Sayig that the dmc guys all still use vinyl, so I'm sure it is good but nothing beats the real thing...

This combo of gizmos is supposed to be great.

Would be alot cheap than a cdj and much better as the plater spins when not scratching!!

    To put it simply..I scratch..alot!

I've used the CDJ 800's and they are crap for any real scratching that requires more subliety than forward and back at the same speed. They are fine for some quick drumming, stabs etc. but if you really want to get a flow with these it will be difficult.

They are a vinyl emulation...works fine for cueing but not for the intricacies of real scratching.

The CDJ1000's are probably better, i know Kentaro uses them but I'd err on the side of caution, evaluate your needs and give them a whirl in Sounds Around or XMusic if they'll let you.
