Inspiron 6000 power adapter

    I'm currently getting the run-around from Dell in regard to a replacement power adapter for my Inspiron 6000.(The power supply is two stage, laptop -> adapter -> plug)

    I had bought a new plug (20 euro), in the hope that it was the plug at fault. It wasn't, the adapter is faulty.

    I rang Dell and when I heard the price was 70 euro for a replacement (believing the higher prices reflected the inclusion of a power adapter and a plug) , I agreed to buy. Lo and behold I received the same new plug I had paid 20 euro for the week before, minus the adapter.

    So now I have two new plugs, one old plug, and a faulty adapter.

    The replacement adapter is not listed anywhere on the Dell website, only the replacement plug.

    So my question is, what adapter is compatible with my Inspiron 6000, that IS listed on the Dell website. Are any of the Latittude adapters identical to my one, just not listed as such?

    I recall that the adapter for the 6400 differs from the 6000 (2pin female instead of three-pin female), and the part that plugs into the laptop itself might also differ in size)

    Can anyone offer help, I'm losing it with the guys in Bangalore who don't have a clue what I'm talking about.

    Does any one know if other inspiron adapters will work with a inspiron 6000?

    Depends on the model on the adapter i.e. PA-10 PA-12 etc.
