Howdy,

have just been offered some timber and want yer opinions.

The mountain ash is a small tree with a 12" trunck so will take that.

But there is also a Siver Birch with a 2 foot trunk.
Now - I always thought that this would be an open grain timber and useless to woodturning.
But looking at the web - there are some very nice pieces - albeit from the US.

So has any one ever turned S.Birch and whats it like.
