They rupture over time happens to them all.

Its an easy job to replace - unclip the wiring , loosen and remove sensor with spanner , replace with new and re clip the wiring

cheers, i managed to get the part before the motor parts shop closed and fitted it myself. 8 quid for the switch, 42 quid to get it done in the garage the last time!

make sure to check your engine oil level as well -in case a substantial amount escaped!

Bringing back up a very old thread - as I have just discovered the exact same issue now on my 2003 Opel Corsa - Good bit of oil dripping out of it and i'm now considering whether to just try get the part and do it myself or bring it to a mechanic.

I have read a few posts on different forums and it seems that excess pressure could be being built up on the switch, because 2 breather pipes connecting to the engine could be blocked up.
And this could mean that even if i replace the switch it may just blow again if I don't check these pipes.

Also when i replaced a filter at last oil change it crumbled a bit taking it out and now i'm thinking some of the fragments might not have cleared out and could be blocking things up causing the problem.

Just wondering has anyone any advice on this??
