"I have a hard time understanding fans who complain about great matches or even good matches “going on too long”. I am just the opposite. If a match goes too short on TV because of TV limitations on time, I don’t like it. Perhaps younger fans want instant gratification and have little or no patience in today’s world, but nothing excites me more than to see a really good match go no less than 20-30 minutes which usually seems to happen at PPVs. On free TV the commercial breaks are not optional and must be observed or the networks and the program provider get in major league trouble."

I agree with him. What do the rest of you think?

I have to say that i agree do aswell.
I like to see a match being "worked" for a long time....with a beginning, middle and end instead of going straight from start to finish with no middle(which alot of matches are like).
There are alot of good short matches but I have to say that I prefer the longer ones.........

I like good short matches. Only sometimes, do i like the longer matches, but only if it is 100% good all the way and no dip in performance. Oh, i like long matches if one of the wrestlers is in my fantasy team, then i dont care if it is good or bad.

short matches for me i guess. I may have to come back to this thread again.

I prefer longer matches but it really depends whose in it.

If its Benoit versus Angle, thats the kinda match you demand 20+ minutes for.

On the other hand sitting through a 15 minute plus Matt Hardy versus Tatanka match ( I don't blame Matt) at the Point was absolute torture.

I feel the same as Vince. I enjoy long matches, but I wouldn't want to be seeing Viscera and Jim Duggan going 20 minutes on Raw. William Regal talks about this a bit in his book, he says that he's never really got to grips with short tv matches because he doesn't have enough time to tell a decent story

I remember when Paul Heyman was on the Raw booking team (or advising them or somethin) a good few years ago, I think it was just before he went to the SD booking team, and there was a stretch of weeks when Raw's main event would be at least 20 minutes long. I think Angle and Benoit in the cage might have been one of them, I was lookin forward to the main events every week

I've seen a good few hour long matches, but most of them have been so good that you really don't realise it's been an hour when the end comes

benoit/angle 30 min matches-good thing,i prefer short high flying matches though,a 10 min mnm vs london and kendrick match or something, did anyone see the vault match on last weeks smackdown? hurricane and moore against noble and tajiri, great match and just theright lenght

I like a bit of both really with a slight edge to longer matches. The only thing I will say though is that there is a very limited amount of guys in WWE at the moment who are capable of having great long matches. Im talking about the likes of Mr. Kennedy, Booker T and Batista who, when they do have long matches, tend to fill them with a ridiculous amount of holds i.e. rear chin locks, abdominal stretches, those sort of things. I do realise there is a need for them so that they can rest a bit and plan out their next move but they just use them WAY too much. It's those long matches that really expose a wrestler for what he really is and unfortunately I think Mr. Kennedy and co are not good enough to have a 20-30 min match unless being carried by a great like Benoit, Micheals, Undertaker or HHH.
