Request for Notice

Can we have some warning that posts have been moved/deleted/turned into new threads, please?

I'm actually not sure, sadly. That's partly why I would rather like some kind of notice - "such and such a thread was deleted for reason X".

I can understand the moving of off-topic posts, which has now happened to me twice in the Christianity forum. I see that also a couple of posts were deleted in which PND accused me of starting a 'bait and switch' thread, and I rejected the accusation on the basis that I hadn't started the thread at all - it had been created by moving one of my posts from another thread.

I've no objection to more forceful moderation - but some sort of notice should be given - replace the missing posts with [Mod]moved[/Mod] or something.

Yeah I'm kinda confused now. I don't remember there being a thread deleted.

Well, you see the thread called "The Sun! (moved from deleted thread)"? That starts with a post of mine from another thread - I didn't start the thread, and I have no idea which thread was deleted. I think that post was on a thread in this forum, but I have no idea what thread (if any) was deleted!

Did a quick check. The only post deleted was the post started by L3ImrOd, which was removed at the posters request. The Atheist split the thread and reposted in the Sun thread. This original post was started by L3ImrOd. Is this the tread you are talking about?

Why do I feel that the post you are talking about originated in Christianity (Sin/Heaven/Hell?)

Ah, that makes sense - it was called "where to begin?". It had wandered rather sharply off-topic...I appreciate not losing the post, even if Talliesin has yet to answer. I also appreciate The Atheist noting the fact that the thread was broken off from another - it was just the coincidence with thread movements on the Christianity forum that made it stand out, really.

Well, that thread, and "Why Pray?" were both started with posts of mine - off-topic posts, I know (do I really go off-topic that much!?). I presume this follows on from the discussion on off-topic posting and atheist/Christian wrangling.

I don't object to it happening (certainly it's more flattering than deletion...), but the lack of any notice that it has happened is slightly disorienting. Aside from anything else, I don't start threads on the Christianity forum, because I'm not Christian (which is why I started this one here) - also, taking the posts out of context has led to another poster accusing me of doing a 'bait and switch' with "my" thread.

Scoff, I'm not sure why you'd need "notice" that some off topic conversation was being put in a new thread. I deleted L3ImrOd's thread (and moved other posts out) and figured no-one would cry foul due to the OPs concerns over discovery.

Perhaps the Christians are out to get you, but I assure you we're not.

Darn, now I feel like I'm whinging....no, it was just a bit disorienting. 3 posts moved, creating 3 new threads I hadn't started, a couple of posts I remembered posting suddenly disappearing. It's weird opening a forum and seeing that you've apparently started some threads.

It's not notice for me I was looking for - more a general news announcement somewhere in the forum, after the fact, that such and such a thread has been split, or deleted.

But I'm so nice to them! No, I don't think that - they're not deleting my posts, just moving them. I just don't like random interventions without explanation...perhaps that's not so surprising come to that. Perhaps it's not so surprising that interventions on the Christianity forum are more frequent, and less explained, either...
