NAS won't mount via USB?

I have a Maplin LanDisk Enclosure with a 250gb. It works perfectly fine over my network, I have FTP and SMB connectivity.

I accidently deleted several hundred important photos on it during the week, although I realised it immediately and unmounted the disk. I have a very good chance of being able to recover these files...if I can actually get to the disk. I'm on a laptop so I can't just connect the disk to my computer by IDE, and it refuses to mount via USB. OS X won't even detect the drive, Windows will but reports that there was an error installing drivers and give up, and I haven't tried Linux yet.

Google further identifies the enclosure as NS347, there's nothing I can find about connectivity issues.

Help? I'm near to my wits end over this.
