Hopefully someone here will be able to help me..

I'm looking to setup a helpdesk call logging system for an inhouse helpdesk
and need some software for calls to be logged into and to keep track of calls,
produce reports etc. So basically what any normal helpdesk software package
    does.

As its going to be evaluated for approx 3 months to see if it works, a
standard 30 day demo that comes with most products wont be suitable and
most companies wont provide us with a demo licence for that long.

Can anyone suggest an Open Source helpdesk software not too hard to
install, relatively easy to configure and modify where required?

    Cheers,

    Tox

SugarCRM is relatively easy to modify to work as a Case Management System.

RT is widely used, but can be a bitch to install. You might have luck with Debian packages.

found this 1 a few months ago and for free software it's pretty good. Only a few options are disabled in the free version.

We've recently started to use JTrac (http://jtrac.info/) for something similar.

I'ts mostly designed as a bug tracking system but because it's very customizable it can be modified to use as a case management system.
