Anyone been on a transatlantic aer lingus flight recently and used it?
Im heading off for 3 weeks on Saturday and want to know what the story is.
Can i check in online (for free im assuming) and print off my boarding pass then when i get to the airport i can just check my bags in somewhere?

Their website mentions nothing about where i check my bags in when checking in online.

I think there is a separate line for online check in or maybe just a bag drop off it is.

You'll see bag drop desks throughout the Aer Lingus area. There are more bag drop desks than check-in desks these days ;)

Ever so slightly off topic, but I'm flying on a BA ticket to Thailand in May, flying Aer Lingus, Shannon - Londont Heathrow before my British Airways London - Bangkok flight. Does anybody know if I can use the Aer Lingus/British Airways online check in for both flights at once?

I don't think you can. Are they two seperate tickets? Or both on the same?

If seperate, you can use the two individual web-check in systems. If it's the same ticket, I don't think you can and will have to check in at Shannon on the day.

I used this system last week for a New York flight.
If you check-in on line, you will generate a PDF of a boarding pass for your flight on two sheets of paper- one which says its for the gate crew, and the other for you to retain.

When getting to the airport, go straight to the "bag dop" aisle.

Now- here, I thought she would allow me to keep my printed off boarding cards, but instead she took my bits of paper, and issued me with another boarding card... a bit weird, but I didnt ask why.

It worked quite well- just make sure you go to the right bag and drop.. some are for European flights, some for atlantic flights.

So are you saying that with online checkin you go to a desk, drop in your bag and are given a boarding pass.. sounds just like what happens at normal check in :D

I like the credit card "check in" that prints your boarding card, but when the ticket is bought with someone elses credit card do you actually need the full email ?

or can you just tell them the code ?

do they have the credit card check in other airports ?

I wonder... Is this available to EU citizens only? My wife is American and could not check in online recently on a domestic flight to the UK so chances are i will have to do it the old fashioned way anyway.

I'm assuming you mean the self-check in machines? Yes, I think you can just use the code.

Yes they do, not all however.

I don't think Aer Lingus restrict web check in to EU nationals.
