Do all dell laptops come with Vista anytime upgrade? i got a "operating system already installed on your computer" disc but cant see the anytime upgrade disk.

Can this disc be downloaded rather than applying by post? (its free for the disc isnt it but I have to pay for the activation which i will be doing!!)

Anytime upgrade is a feature built into the Windows Vista operating system that allows you to upgrade a version of Vista to another type like Home Premium to Ultimate etc.

This feature does not come on disc and all Vista's DVD's contain the same bits it is the serial key that you give it which determines the type of Vista you install.

Dell are shipping Vista on their machines as standard now prior to that they where offering an upgrade version of Vista to those that got XP but those upgrades where severely delayed by Dell & are only now starting to ship to certain customers.

The Dell upgrade was free but costs to ship it to you however Dell are no longer accepting any further redeems as the cut off date was March the 31st. If you did not fill out the form for the Dell upgrade then it looks like you are out of luck with the offer having now expired, if you want Windows Vista the only way to get it is to purchase it the regular way.

Yes they do (or at least they did a month ago). I'm looking at one right now.
It's a Microsoft disc, ie. it has no Dell branding. 8T8 is correct in that Anytime Upgrade is a feature Vista but from what I can see when you go into the A U feature it asks for the disc. Having said that, it says on the cover that if you loose the disc, one can be ordered when you order the upgrade. It's all a bit confusing.
It's also very pricey to upgrade after purchase rather than at the time you purchase the laptop. To upgrade from Home Basic to Home Premium is about 120euro.

Edit: Eh. Where did 8T8's post go to.

Deleted it thought it was a cross post but different users must be coincidence.
