Pricing a network job

    Howdy all,
I was wondering the going rate for installing a network/ adding
some computers onto an existing computer. I'm running 5cables
into outer building for somebody in a month and wondering what
to charge. I need to hook up these five computers, run cable
through four rooms, drilling about 6/7walls, bring the cables outside
and thus covering them. What is the going rate for this type of
    work?

    Any and all comments appreciated,
    Thanks

Why don't you ring up some companies to get a feeling for what to charge. Also, charge your customer by the hour if you can get away with it.

I was thinking of doing that but don't want to be wasting people's
time as I won't be using their services. Just thought some people
in the industry could give an estimate.
    Thanks :)

Always run more cables than you'll need, better in the long run. People always wants to add more stuff in the future.
Or you could just run a couple of cables and put a switch in the room with the computers.

No idea what to charge though, this kind of work is normally done by electricians and the like. You'd want to make sure you've got some kind of hard cladding for the outdoor cables, rats love to eat through them.

You need to work out the cost of equipment, labour and time and add profit etc. Allowing for tax etc. Doesn't matter what the going rate is if its not economical for you to match it.

Wireless might not be reliable or even work through some walls. You'd have to test though. Theres also this...

Thanks for the replies. It's needs to be wired and I've included plenty of extra cable there in the case they need to move things around. :)
