Anyone played it, looks good im very tempted to pick it up.

I think i'm alone in owning this (someone please prove me wrong).

I was a big fan of the Ace Combat games so i was going to like this regardless but as i said in another thread, it surprised me a lot by being really well made and a really enjoyable to play.

The planes are all quite varied so picking between your favourite and the best one for the mission can sometimes come down to a coin toss but alternate weapon setups within the craft usually allow you to customise your plane to suit the mission (my current favorite is the MiG Superflanker V2 with all kinds of hurtin' for both ground and air-to-air combat).

For the most part the game is gunning down progressively harder aircraft from fighters and helicopters and even those radar jamming planes with only your 20mm cannons to tankers, gunboats, carriers and even jeeps, tanks, military installations and SAM sites.

I could go on all day about how much i love the game.

Oh also, you can get WMD's in the game :eek:

I'm not a big fan of flight games, but the fact that it looks like it plays like afterburner is seriously making me consider it...

How about the controls Rhyme, how do they go with the game?

The controls are very well done and come in two flavours, Arcade and Professional.

Arcade is basically control through the Wiimote (point at the screen to turn), throttle through the stick, missiles through B and cannons through Z with the other little niggly things like camera view and wingman commands through the rest of the buttons.

I've not used Professional mode much but as far as i can tell the button config is the same but with the Nunchuk acting as a flight stick.

No real problems at all really but if you start to flail wildly the plane tends to bank sharply, easily remedied by pointing the Wiimote at the screen to ease up.

I'm currently playing it, its as dumb as shooters come but a whole lot of fun, damn that sounded like a Dr Suess rhyme, must stop reading The Cat In The Hat to my son, I think my rhyming days are nearly done, dammit there I go again!
Seriously though, its a fun game, fast and full of action, if a tad repetitive, the Wiimote controls suck, far better to stick to the nunchuck for joystick control and the Wiimote for firing off your missiles and the like.

Thats disappointing, I was looking forward to it coming. What's heatseeker? I don't see it in the game line-up on the Nintendo site.

IGN gave it 7.5/10 it lacks longevioty but gameplay was v. good

I think you may be confusing it with Blazing Angels which was supposed to have online play and did not review well.
