Disk not shown in My Computer?

    Im after dismantling my old laptop whose motherboard gave up the ghost.

    Im after taking out the HD and I have attached a caddy to it so that it connects to my pc via USB.

    Now the light of the caddy comes on, I can hear the HD spin and the computer see the hardware in the "Manage" portion of my computer. It is under a Generic HD Driver.

    But the drive is not visible in my computer or disk management.

    Is there anything else I can do. Any tricks with software or anything like that?

    Or am I wasting my time?

    Not visible AT ALL in disk management? That's very very odd. I'm interested to see how this turns out.
    Could you post screenshots of disk management & device manager?

    disconnect cd drive and other unnescessary ide drives that are currently assigned drive letters and see if you have any luck?

    Also the jumper setting may be incorrect for it!! Might be worth looking into that aswell!!
