My family and I are going for a weeks holiday in the Dominican Republic at the end of next month.I wasnt talking to my GP since we booked this holiday so I was just wondering does anyone know if there are vaccinations that are vitally important to be taken before our trip? Thanks...

Advice tends to change depending on the time of year you are going .i.e. seasonal variation. You should talk to your local health board or your doctor. There might be an Irish Government travel advice website you can look at either.

Quick glance at my travel vaccine wall chart.......

    Tetanus
    Typhoid
    Hepatitis A

Are recommended........ Tetanus will need a booster, Typhoid should be covered in the 3-in-1 or now 5-in-1 and Hep A is a separate vaccine. Check with your GP for specific advice.

Midger, did you go? What was it like? Could you post a review in Travel section maybe? Considering it as a holiday venue as well, but its proximity to Haiti make me feel uncomfortable! :)
