Did you check the cdi unit? the back box under the saddle, I had an Suzuki F600 a few years ago and the electrical contacts on the cdi got corroded, a small rub with wet & dry, also some contact spray would help. check other connections as well.

The bandit 400 is notorious for killing CDIs sadly. what model is it?
I have a working cdi off a VVT model.
There is an option to repair it yourself if you're handy with a soldering iron, there are 4 or 6 capacitors on the board that need to be replaced. This is a last ditch thing though, if you can get a hold of a known working cdi to test your bike with it'd be a good idea.

the bandit is a gsf a1994 model do you think your cdi unit would fit if not would a gsf 600 bandit one do the job.thanks

Very unlikely that a CDI off a 600 would fit. Even if you could connect it up and get it to run, it wouldn't work well as the ignition timing and rev limit would be wrong.

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.
