:( I can't connect to the wireless connections that are showing up on my laptop.there is no key for them and my room mate is able to connect to them.My laptop is about 3yrs old now but I can't see how this would make a difference.I was able to connect to the very same connection only last week.

    Is it your network???

If not, the owner may have put MAC address filtering on the wlan and you may not be able to connect.
